Gilles A. Herard, Jr.

Gilles A Herard, Jr. Mr. Hérard was born in Montreal, Canada, in 1952, and has a University Degree in Administration.

Mr. Hérard started his career in Banking in 1972 with the Toronto Dominion Bank (Canada), where he attended "Highly Specialized Classes" in Administration and Credit and became a "Fellow" of the Canadian Bankers Institute. He subsequently obtained a second degree from the University of Central Florida in "Mastering Skills of International Trade."

In the mid 70's, Mr. Hérard joined Manufacturer Hanover (MH) of New York as Senior Credit Analyst. During that time, MH was recognized as one of, if not the most important Commercial Bank worldwide, counting among its clients the world’s top 500 companies.

In the early 80’s, with 10 years of experience working for world-leading Banks under his belt, Mr. Hérard decided to leave the Banking world, and created his own Firm, where he Syndicated and Structured funding for top Companies worldwide, all the while investing his own Funds.

Today Mr. Hérard is the Senior Partner of Capital Corp Merchant Banking, a Boutique Merchant Banking Group located in Orlando, FL (USA), conducting business worldwide and currently handling a monthly volume of transactions in excess of $500 million.

Awards & Nominations

In addition of being nominated Businessman of the Year twice by the Republican Congressional Committee (1998 & 2005), Mr. Hérard, as Capital Corp’s founder, President, and CEO, was also nominated to serve as Florida's Representative of the Presidential Roundtable in Washington. The Presidential Roundtable is a powerful organization of very select individuals sharing ideas and experiences with the United States Senate Leadership, GOP Senators and other top political leaders and luminaries.

In recent years, Presidential Roundtable Members have had the opportunity to meet with Honorary Members like former Presidents Ford, Reagan, and Bush, and such featured guests as Mr. Henry Kissinger and Mrs. Jeanne Kirkpatrick, just to name a few.

Furthermore, Mr. Hérard was presented in 1999 with the Republican Senatorial Medal of Freedom, the highest and most prestigious honor the Members of the United States Senate can bestow on an individual. Distinguished Honorees who have received the medal in the past include: Former President Ronald Regan, Lady Margaret Thatcher and Charlton Heston.
